Texas update

It's been more than a week since we went to Texas, and I still haven't blogged about it. So here it goes :]

We left our house Friday evening around 5. Dad drove and we went to Denny's for dinner at Blythe, CA around 10pm. Burnt my tongue from super hot coffee before I drove across 2 state lines, Cali-Ariz & Ariz-New Mexico. [I hate the "photo enforced areas" in Arizona btw. You HAVE to slow down to the speed limit, if not you'll have a nice picture of your car speeding -__- ] Drove from 11pm-5am straight, just stopping for gas. I knocked out soon after we switched and we finally got to El Paso a little after 9am. From there, still drowsy from the long drive, I had to the Fil-Am church before Sweetie&Cutie had practice for their youth play.

Oh yeah, I should probably mention who we were visiting. The Lasala's at El Paso, TX
They are Tito Junar, Tita Jasmine, Sweetie, Cutie, Honey, and Apple.
& of course, those are just the kid's nick names.

It was good to see them, I missed them, hadn't seen them since they visited us at the house in panorama city last spring break.

So we got back from the church at around 1pm. I knocked out at around 3pm, since I barely got any sleep the night before from all the driving. Felt good& rested when I awoke to a quiet house. Turns out they left to eat at Sonic's and to their Worship practice without me. But it was all good, I needed the rest anyways.

For dinner we went to this mexican restaurant called El Taco Tote. I was pretty excited because from all the times that we've been to El Paso, which is like right next to the boder, we've never actually eaten mexican food while we were there. I liked the condiment bar that they had. All the [mexican] spices, sauces, condiments you could think of were there, preetttyy cool.
The food was pretty good, had some chips& salsa and about 5 tacos. Though my still burnt tongue annoyed the heck out of me while I was eating, totally satisfied that night.

Can't Help But Wait

So I started typing this entry Monday night but got tired& went to bed. So it's now Wednesday and still not done. Oh wells, here it is anyways.

"It's about 11:30pm and Jay Leno's about to start, but I'll just do this anyway.

Firstly, I had a realllly long weekend.

Lemme start off with Friday.
School didn't feel like such a drag because we were going over Chapter 20, the Reproductive System. There was one section where Dr Hany started talking about circumcision. I couldn't help but cringe when he went into specific details about the procedure. And did you know that the gunk that accumulates between the head and foreskin is because of some gland? And that the older you are, the harder the procedure is? I was glad that I got it when I was about 11. I can't begin to imagine getting the procedure now, how horrible that experience would be.

Anyways, I decided to go get some La Estrella after school. Actually, I made my final decision after some idiot almost hit me while switching lanes. I was on lane next to the fast lane on the 210W, just passed Pasedena, when some subaru recklessly switches lanes. My front bumper was right next to his rear windows when I see him start to move toward my car without hesitation. I immediately step on the brakes and push hard on the horn. I was on the brakes for a good 2 seconds. If I didn't brake like I had, he would have for sure hit me. I thought to myself, WTF!? WTF is your problem!? It's called CHECKING YOUR BLIND SPOT! He managed to completely destroy my calmness while I was driving. I sped up , switched lanes, and thought about confronting him but I decide to just speed by, passing him.
I was Pretty pissed off, but managed to cool down with a carne asada burrito con todo from La Estrella & iced black tea from Starbucks :D"

So everything about this sentence, meaning ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ was written Monday night.

Anyways, our last quiz for A&P(Anatomy& Physiology) is tomorow, Thursday.
& no school on Friday because it's Good Friday(one good thing bout having a Catholic Filipina as our school president :D)
Also, super excited for this weekend, family's going to El Paso, Texas.
woohooooo! Hello white girls! ...uhh I mean driving at least half of that 13hr roadtrip -_-

Family

My condolences to the Libramonte family for the loss of a loved one.

Made me think about my family and how long it's been since I've actually seen any of my blood relatives. I was fortunate enough to see and spend time with cousins Ate Tin & Pen when they had a mini vacation and came here back in October for Eunice's debut. I was also fortunate enough to see another cousin Kuya Carlo when he was here in the states for business back in Summer of 08'. Spent a couple of hours with him when his flight had a layover in LAX. Made me think about when my grandma from my mom's side died a few years back. My mom was devastated, and it really hit us hard. The worst thing was that she couldn't even go back to the Philippines for the funeral. Made me think about how long our family has been apart from relatives in the Philippines. The last time I saw cousins, aunties, uncles, and grandparents was way back in 2002 when we went to the Philippines before we moved here to LA.

When we lived in Singapore, we were separated from family in the Philippines but we would go back and forth for vacations and sometimes our grandparents would even stay with us for awhile. I guess it was easier back then because Singapore was only a 3 hour flight from the Philippines. Ever since we moved to California, my dad was the first one who was able to go back. He would go back almost every year since 2004 for our yearly mission trips and what not. My mom was finally able to go back with my dad in back in 2008. That leaves us 4 kids. We haven't seen our cousins, aunties, uncles, and the 2 remaining grandparents we have left. We never had the chance to meet our mom's dad, He went home long before any of us were born, before my parents were even married.

I miss my relatives. But I'm very thankful for all the people in my life. I'm thankful for Hope For The World where I've met people that I can consider family. I thank God for providing me with people that I can look up to. I'm thankful for friends, real friends that stick with me through it all. I'm thankful for all the love that I've felt throughout the years.
I am thankful for famILY.

Inspiration

So I started following a certain friend's blog.
Read& skimmed through a number of entries, found it really interesting.
So now this is the start of my attempt to keep an Updated blog.
I shall try my best to actually update lol.
Just a recap of my day.

Left my house with the sun up high& got home with it setting.
Alot of driving& waiting.

Drove about 100miles going all over LA county.
LA traffic really really sucks.

That is all.

Prayer&Fasting

So from Monday-Friday of this week there'll be prayer&fasting at church from 8pm-whenever.
I didn't go last night but I went tonight, & I was glad I did. I know that the purpose of the prayer&fasting is not for any reason of self, but I was just blessed from the experience, knowing that God receives our worship& hears our prayers. The fasting part is supposed to be a kind of self-discipline of the body so that our spirit overcomes our flesh- the part that makes one hungry. It's my first night of fasting this week so I guess it's normal to feel a bit hungry.

I know that we are praying& fasting for a purpose, to gear up and prepare for something big that is about to come. To gear up for battle, this spiritual battle just beyond the horizon. And as I'm writing this, the song "Battlecry" comes to mind. The more I listen to that song, the more I understand it. The first thing that caught my attention was of course the amazing drumming in the song, but beyond that, is the message, of being on the frontlines of a spiritual battle and calling out a warcry, a battlecry. I know everyone has their own personal battles, but I also believe that there are corporate battles that churches/ministries face. And I believe that it requires personal as well as corporate prayer& fasting in order to succeed.

Thank You Lord, Thank You for Your amazing promises, promises of healing, promises of provision, promises of guidance, promises of blessing, and even promises of discipline when necessary. Thank You Lord because You are, INDEED, Good.

SORE.

I haven't felt this sore since the crazy condition drills in football wayy back in september -_-
I just woke up like an hour ago, so I don't think I'll be sleeping in awhile.
Went to the Cabrillo beach today! or technically yesterday, since it's past 12am, whatever.
Twas' funn! Estabillos, Garratons, Libramontes(Manny), Pangans, Cruzes, Dj, & ate marrisa was there!
Got there before 10am while everyone else got there earlier.
The lil kids were just running around and playing with sand the whole time lol.
Baby seth looked so G with his "beach" outfit, hehe
Basically what happened was:
We grilled, ate, played with sand, played volleyball(So sore I could hardly spike the ball), grilled& ate again, played with sand again, this time burying ronnie! ahah & then kuya sonny busted out with the guitar and we just started singing praise&worship songs, soon later the people next to where we set camp started singing too!
It was real foggy when we first got there but the sun came out hours later.
Thank God for whoever brought the sunscreen, I didn't feel like getting sunburned today lol.
Had to cut out the sleeves of my shirt cause' SOMEONE didn't want to let me wear his tanktop, *ahem DJ.
But whatevs, he was jealous of my sleeve headband soon after.
Stayed until 6ish, got home at like 7pm.
Knocked out in the car & just barely made it to my room, where I kept on waking up every hour until 11pm.
& there you have it!
My 1st official beach trip of the summer, lol.

Well I really should sleep soon, still gotta wake up early tomorow!

OH YEAH, & the Libramontes are finally coming back tom! but not in time for church =/
oh wells, we'll see em' sometime this week i'm sure of it!

PEACE.
